Pupface Privacy Policy

Effective date: August 16, 2026

Pupface is developed and operated by Brandon Russ. This policy explains what information Pupface collects, why, and what control you have over it.

What we collect

Account information. When you sign in with Google (and, in a future update, Apple), we receive your name, email address, and a unique account identifier from that provider. We don't see or store your password — sign-in is handled entirely by Google/Apple.

App activity. To run the app, we store the judging you do: which dogs you're shown, which one you pick, your streak, and dogs you skip. This is what makes the ratings and leaderboard work.

Dogs you add. If you submit your own dog (this feature is not yet open to users), we store the name, breed, age group, and photo you provide.
Reports. If you report a dog or a match, we store the report and the reason you gave, so it can be reviewed.

Basic technical logs. Our backend infrastructure (Supabase) keeps standard request logs (such as IP address and timestamps) for security and abuse prevention, in line with its own provider policies.

What we don't collect

Pupface has no advertising, no third-party analytics or tracking SDKs, no location tracking, and no in-app payments — so there's no payment informati

How we use it

- To run matches and compute Elo ratings.
- To show your personal stats (judged count, streak, recent verdicts) and the leaderboard.
- To review reports and moderate submitted content.
- To keep the service secure and prevent abuse (e.g. rate-limiting).

Who we share it with

We use two service providers to run Pupface, and share data with them only as needed to operate the app:

- Supabase — our database, authentication,
- Google (and, in a future update, Apple) — for sign-in.

We do not sell your data, and we do not share it with advertisers.

Your choices

- Delete your account any time from the You tab. This removes your account, the dogs you've added, and your judging history.
- Sign out any time from the You tab.
- Contact us (below) with any question about your data.

Children

Pupface is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from children under 13.

Data retention

We keep your data while your account is active. Deleting your account removes your data as described above, except where a short retention period is needed for security or legal reasons.

Security

We use industry-standard measures (encrypted connections, access controls) to protect your data. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, we'll update this page and change the effective date above.
